A handful of organizations currently exist to serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in San Antonio.  However, most are full capacity, and some are closing due to lack of funding. Medicaid lowered the per diem payment for adults to 2008 levels, which has adversely impacted many of the day programs in the area. SA Life Academy differentiates itself through the quality of the curriculum offered and the qualification of teachers and staff.  SA Life Academy provides exceptional continuing education opportunities aimed at helping adults with special needs live full and active lives in a safe environment. Most importantly, a meaningful and purposeful daily curriculum offers a more enriching experience for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

SA Life Academy opened in July of 2017 as a year-round, partial-day continuing education program for adults. The program model and curriculum is built around the following core values designed to RAISE the quality of life for these enrolled individuals:
